Most window replacement projects are completed in 1 day depending on size and complexity. We bring a full crew sized to your project so quality work doesn’t mean a longer timeline. For larger homes or complex conversions (structural openings, non-standard sizes, or full door replacements) a second day is sometimes needed. Our operations team gives you a project-specific timeline before you schedule, not a generic estimate.

In most of our installations, there is no structural or cosmetic damage. Our crew removes glass pane by pane, then collapse and extract the old frame rather than breaking it out. Occasionally, some sheetrock scuffing occurs near the window opening (typically a touch-up paint job). We walk you through what to expect for your specific home before we start.

No. Our crew handles all of it. We remove window treatments and blinds, move furniture to access each opening, lay down protective coverings on floors and furnishings, and reinstall everything before we leave.

What we ask of you: Move any genuinely irreplaceable items away from the work area before we arrive. Art, china, heirlooms – anything you cannot replace.

Never. Every person who installs your windows and doors is a direct W-2 employee of The Window Experts. Most companies in this industry pay installers by the window, which rewards speed over quality. Our Crew Leaders are salaried and our installers our hourly with healthy wages. That removes the financial incentive to rush and keeps the focus on doing the job right. It also means the crew on your project is accountable to us, trained to our standards, and not swapping out day to day.

In most cases, better. Our installation uses a layered system: flashing, high-density foam, and exterior-grade caulk applied in the correct sequence. Original residential construction rarely meets that standard. Our sealing process is also why every installation we complete is backed by our Lifetime Leak-Free Guarantee – if water ever enters at the installation point, we come back and make it right at no charge.

Our premium vinyl windows are built to last 30 or more years, which substantially offsets the environmental cost of production compared to lower-grade products that fail and need replacement inside ten years. They also contain a portion of recycled vinyl material known as re-grind, reducing manufacturing waste. Replacing older single-pane or failed double-pane windows with high-performance products meaningfully reduces HVAC load over the life of the home.

Yes. We offer several financing options, including 0% interest promotions with no down payment required for qualifying customers. Terms and promotional periods vary. It depends most on what you are replacing. Homes with original single-pane windows or failed double-pane units, fogged glass, broken seals, typically see the largest improvement in cooling efficiency. Some customers report 15-25% reductions in cooling costs after replacing older windows. Homes with functioning double-pane windows will see more modest energy gains, though they often notice immediate comfort improvements from better temperature consistency and reduced drafts.

Very carefully. Some companies use “smash & dash”, breaking the windows and leaving you finding glass in your yard for years. We remove the glass, one piece at a time, and then collapse the old frame to remove it. In most cases, without any damage to the interior or exterior of your home.

Low-E stands for low emissivity. The glass is coated with a microscopically thin layer of silver oxide on one of its interior surfaces. That coating reflects infrared and ultraviolet light back out while allowing most visible light to pass through. This means it blocks the sun’s heat before it enters your home without significantly darkening your rooms. In Texas, Low-E is not optional. The combination of sun angle, heat load, and cooling costs in Houston and DFW make Low-E glass the baseline specification on virtually every project we do.

Lead times vary by manufacturer and current production schedules, typically 8-12 weeks from order confirmation to window delivery. Custom sizes, specialty glass, or specific color combinations dictate the timeline rather than an off-the-shelf item. Your Product Specialist gives you a current lead time estimate at the time of your written proposal, and we update you if anything changes.

There is no universal answer. The right window depends on your home’s architecture, the local climate, your performance priorities, and your budget. We carry over a dozen brands so we are never in the position of telling you the best window is the one we happen to sell. Our Product Specialists ask the right questions about your home first and recommend from there, not the other way around.

There is no single best window, but there are clear right answers for Texas homes. Houston’s heat load and humidity favor low U-factor, low SHGC double-pane windows with Low-E glass and argon fill. DFW homeowners also deal with sharper temperature swings, so frame dimensional stability under thermal stress matters more. Fiberglass frames handle both climates exceptionally well. Premium vinyl is more affordable and performs well when properly specified with the right glass package. Your Product Specialist will walk you through what fits your home’s orientation, sun exposure, and budget.

Most companies in our industry hire contractors who get paid by how many windows they can install in one day. That can cause a sense of urgency to hurry and make more money. In our case, we pay our staff a salary so they can focus on quality instead of quantity.

2. When you decide to move forward, we complete a follow up expert measurement and place your order directly with the manufacturer. We keep you informed every step of the way.

3. Once your windows arrive and pass our quality check, we schedule your install date.

4. Our W-2 crew completes the work, walks you through the finished project, and cleans up. Most projects are done in a single day.

Coverage terms vary by brand and product line, and your Product Specialist walks you through the specifics for whatever you select. Yes, the safety of our staff and the protection of your home are our number one priority. You will find that our process is built around protecting your home and treating it the same way we would want to be treated if we were getting new windows and doors installed in our own homes. This means that we always wear the proper safety gear to protect our staff and we always take the extra steps to cover your furniture and flooring so that they are protected from any issues that may occur during the installation process.

Yes. We carry workers’ compensation and general business liability insurance on all employees. If you would like a certificate of insurance before your installation date, just ask – we provide one on request.

All of the heavy lifting will be done by our team. We will move the furniture, take down and reinstall any window coverings or blinds, cover your furniture and floors to keep things clean, and we will even clean your windows before we leave. All we ask from you is that you remove any breakable and valuable items from the working areas prior to our arrival. (expensive art, china, trinkets, grand pianos, irreplaceable items, and items of sentimental value).

Our priority is to take as much time as we need to do things properly and to never cut corners. However, we understand and value the importance of getting things done so we can return your home to you as soon as possible. Most projects take one or two days to complete. Please ask your Product Specialist for an estimate on how long they think your project will take.

The federal 25C tax credit for energy-efficient windows expired at the end of 2025 and is not available for 2026 installations. If you had windows installed in 2025, you can still claim that credit on your 2025 tax return. For 2026 projects, the federal credit is no longer applicable.

A single-hung window has one operable sash – the bottom panel slides up, the top is fixed. A double-hung window has two operable sashes, so both top and bottom panels move independently. Double-hung windows offer better ventilation control and are significantly easier to clean because both sashes tilt inward. For most Houston and DFW homeowners doing a standard replacement, double-hung is the right choice. Single-hung costs a bit less and works well where you don’t need the top sash to open.

Pricing varies based on the brand, frame material, glass package, window count, colors, grids, and installation complexity. There is no honest flat number. Depending on the brand of window you select, and our current workload, windows can take anywhere from 8 weeks up to 16 weeks to arrive. Be sure to ask your Product Specialist for our current estimated lead times.

We provide service and repairs for windows and doors we have sold and installed. Unfortunately, we are not able to service or repair windows and doors purchased or installed through another company.

Three things that are not standard in this industry.

Double-pane windows have two glass layers with an insulating gas, typically argon, sealed between them. Triple-pane windows add a third layer for additional insulation. In cold climates, triple-pane often justifies the cost. In Texas, the primary concern is solar heat gain rather than heat loss, and properly specified double-pane glass with Low-E coating performs very well. Triple-pane rarely delivers enough additional energy savings in our climate to justify the cost premium. We carry both and give you an honest recommendation.

Yes. Unless you request otherwise, every window and door we install is specified with the top-tier glass and frame performance for Texas conditions. For our market, that means double-pane Low-E glass with argon gas fill as the standard baseline. We share the actual performance specs for every product you’re considering, U-factor, Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC), and Visible Light Transmittance, so you can compare with real numbers, not marketing language.

Most product lines offer interior and exterior color options. Standard choices typically include white, tan, bronze, and black, with expanded palettes available by brand. Across all lines we carry, you have access to more than 100,000 possible combinations. In practice, most homeowners settle on one or two options that work for their home. Our Product Specialists narrow the field so you are choosing from a short list that makes sense for your exterior and interior, not a 100,000-item catalog.

Yes. We have a materials-only option for homeowners who have their own installer. Replacement windows fit inside your existing frame opening – the exterior casing, trim, and siding all stay intact. New construction windows require removing the entire frame and are used when the surrounding structure needs work or during full renovations. Replacement windows cause less disruption, less overall cost, and a faster project and is the primary choice for homeowners replacing older or failed windows in a structurally sound home.

We offer all major frame materials: vinyl, fiberglass, wood, composite, and aluminum. Each performs differently in Texas’s climate. Premium vinyl is the most popular choice because it insulates well, resists moisture, requires virtually little to no maintenance, and is available in a wide range of colors.
